La red social Twitter mantiene abierta la cuenta de Zabiullah Mujahid, portavoz de los talibanes afganos, que se presenta como «Portavoz del Emirato Islámico de Afganistán», y que informa en su perfil del avance del grupo islámico en el país. «La situación en Kabul está bajo control», ha tuiteado este lunes.

La cuenta de Mujahid no está verificada, pero cuenta con casi de 300.000 usuarios y es citada de manera sistemática por los medios de comunicación.

La misma compañía estadounidense, que tiene su sede en San Francisco (California), censuró al expresidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, tras el asalto al Capitolio bajo la excusa de «incitación a la violencia», una decisión política dado que el propio Trump rechazó la violencia y reclamó respeto escrupuloso a la ley.

El propio exdirigente republicano anunció el pasado mes de julio la interposición de una demanda contra la propia plataforma Twitter -y contra Facebook y Google- y su CEO, Jack Dorsey, para hacer «rendir cuentas» por el ataque a su «libertad de expresión». Así, dijo que buscaría probar la ilegalidad del veto a sus cuentas, pero también defender la Primera Enmienda de la Constitución y lograr que las «Big Tech» dejen de silenciar y cancelar a los estadounidenses por motivos políticos.

Mientras Twitter se mantiene tolerante con el portavoz de los talibán, el portavoz del Departamento de Estado estadounidense, Ned Price, ha declarado que abre la posibilidad de reconocer un Gobierno en Afganistán de los talibán si «defiende los Derechos Humanos y rechaza terroristas». «En última instancia, cuando se trata de nuestra postura hacia cualquier futuro gobierno en Afganistán, dependerá de las acciones de los talibán», ha dicho en rueda de prensa. «El hecho es que un futuro gobierno afgano que defienda los derechos básicos de su pueblo y que no dé refugio a terroristas, ese es un gobierno con el que podríamos trabajar», ha precisado.

Además, respecto a la huida del país del presidente, Ashraf Ghani, Price ha mencionado que «no ha habido una transferencia formal de poder» y que Estados Unidos está trabajando con la comunidad internacional en determinar a quién reconocer como líder en Afganistán.

Los insurgentes han logrado con el país en menos de dos semanas y, en su asalto final a Kabul, dijeron que lo hacían para garantizar la seguridad y evitar un vacío de poder.
